McCormack Construction Enhances Early Learning Facilities in Pendleton

McCormack Construction has officially begun work on an important new community project in Pendleton: the expansion of the Pendleton Children’s Center.

Located on SW Frazer Avenue, the Center has been a cornerstone of child care and early education for families since its opening. With demand for reliable and affordable child care continuing to rise, the organization purchased the building next door to create a modern, accessible, and efficient new space for children to learn, play, and grow.

McCormack Construction is leading the transformation of this historic 1940s-era structure into a safe, welcoming environment that meets today’s standards for early education. The project includes replacing the stairs and adding a ramp to ensure accessibility, building a canopy for shaded outdoor play, and renovating the former 3Rs space to create two new preschool classrooms.

This expansion will allow the Pendleton Children’s Center to grow from its current capacity of 76 to more than 100 children, offering care across all age groups — from infants to after-school programs for kindergartners. Beyond helping local families, the additional child care options will also support the workforce, enabling more parents to pursue education and employment.

For McCormack Construction, projects like this underscore the company’s dedication not only to building quality facilities but also to strengthening the communities it serves. Tackling older structures and bringing them up to modern codes is a specialty of McCormack’s team, and this project is another example of their ability to deliver thoughtful, functional spaces that make a lasting impact.

As construction progresses, McCormack Construction remains committed to working closely with the Pendleton Children’s Center and community stakeholders to ensure the project is completed with care, precision, and purpose.
