McCormack Construction partnered with hotel developer Elie Makad on a ground-up Radisson Hotel in Pendleton, Oregon, designed to expand hospitality infrastructure in the region. The $7.5 million project was completed in 2022 and represents a significant investment in commercial development for the City of Pendleton. The facility provides quality accommodations for visitors to the area while supporting the local economy through tourism and business travel.
 
The project involved construction of a 39,000-square-foot hotel with a full kitchen and restaurant located at 4343 NW A Avenue. McCormack served as CM/GC, delivering a fully functional hospitality facility designed to meet Radisson brand standards and operational requirements. The 14-month project required careful coordination between the owner, city officials, and the construction team to bring the development from concept to completion on a site that needed land procurement negotiations.
 
Key challenges included navigating negotiations with the City of Pendleton during pre-construction for land procurement, managing owner-furnished scope collaboration that required precise coordination of materials and equipment provided by the owner, and overcoming schedule challenges that threatened to delay the project timeline. Balancing these complex pre-construction and construction issues while maintaining quality and staying on budget demanded strategic planning and continuous problem-solving throughout the project.
 
To address these challenges, McCormack worked closely with Elie Makad to ensure accurate programming and facility flow aligned with hotel operational requirements. The team facilitated negotiations with the City of Pendleton to resolve land procurement issues efficiently. Massive value engineering efforts during pre-construction helped control costs and maintain project feasibility. McCormack established clear coordination protocols for owner-furnished items and maintained strict schedule adherence through continuous communication with the owner throughout construction, ensuring that all parties remained aligned on progress and expectations.
